THE senior citizens of this country seem to bear the brunt of the benefit and NHS system costs.

Firstly I would like to say that the old age pension is not a benefit. Most of them have worked solidly since they were 15 till 65, paying all of their dues, so we are just getting back what we have paid for.

The head of the county hospitals, Sir Jonathan Michael, seems to think that us OAPs are the cause of the NHS shortfall.

Well, I have news for him. He seems to have forgotten that we have far more people in the country than ever before, so this must be a drain on NHS resources.

Also there are tourist patients that the NHS doesn’t to bother to bill, and let them off scot free. With so many people entering the UK and needing treatment, why is the Government cutting budgets?

Surely some of the vast amount of money wasted on overseas aid would be better used on the NHS to get it back on track.
