IN RECENT weeks we have read that the Oxford City Council is launching schemes to help nurses, teachers and the elderly find affordable housing within the city boundaries.
However, in Water Eaton Road in North Oxford (which has easy access to buses and cycle routes), the planning department has ignored our numerous and vigorous objections, and accepted plans for two large houses with garage space for four cars.
This is in a space that could have created nine flats which would have been in keeping with the blocks of flats on either side, and have provided more affordable housing for a larger number of people. Does this indicate that the voices of local residents are not being heard?
Is profit being prioritised over human concerns?
