YOUR Remember When “Fear over future of schools” (August 19) shows a picture of Olive Gibbs, Sue Matthews and me.
The actual position was that Olive was a member of the confidential working party planning the future of Peers School, Littlemore and Redefield School, Blackbird Leys, and a number of other schools in or near Oxford.
I was not a member and was unable to find out what they had discussed or decided although I was chair of Redefield.
Today's Letters
The outcome proved to be the closure of Redefield and, later, of the secondary school at Berinsfield. At the time, (September 1977) there were only three Labour county councillors – Olive, me and Bryn Duggan of Didcot.
Sue Matthews was a teacher member of the County Education Committee.
