Greens’ wishes on centre are quite clear and simple IT IS a shame that the local Labour councillor for St Clement’s Ward chose to take a cheap side swipe at Green councillors (Oxford Mail, August 8) rather than address the issues of concern to local residents that underpinned the Oxford Mail’s front page story on the demise of community facilities in East Oxford.
Greens councillors are not, and have never been, against improving the facilities at the East Oxford Community Centre.

We worked with the Community Association to successfully secure funding for the kitchen extension and mezzanine floor. We wish the council would invest more in the centre.
Green demands are simple, and clearly stated on our online petition site greenoxford.com/saveourcommunityfacilities We are calling for: 1. East Oxford Community Centre to be run for the community by the community 2. Improvements to the East Oxford Community Centre not to be made dependent on the closure of the Games Hall and Film Oxford building.
3. Proper public consultation on the future of community provision in East Oxford We hope many more will join us by signing the petition.
Cllr ELISE BENJAMIN
