LAST week a gentleman lost his life in a vehicle collision on the A420 between Faringdon and Littleworth – a location that I would say is Wadley.
There have been other fatalities near this spot. One of them was 44 years ago on June 10, 1971, and another 39 years ago on December 1, 1976. These were attended to by Faringdon firefighters.
Back in the 1980s this road was branded the Road to Hell and, if my memory is correct, the Oxford Mail and your sister paper the Swindon Evening Advertiser ran a campaign to get the speed limit reduced to 50 miles an hour.
With the current volume of traffic, I do not offer any solutions.
However these collisions have been going on for a long time on this road.
