AFTER 15 years of attending Art in Action at Waterperry, my wife and I finally decided to visit Oxford.

We were in our motorhome and drove to the Park and Ride site at Thornhill.

Unfortunately all the barriers limited entry to vehicles under 2.1 metres and, as our motorhome has 3m height, this precluded our parking at this location.

We asked one of the personnel at the site if there were any Park and Ride sites that accommodated motorhomes.

We were told that the Pear Tree site could take our vehicle and drove there.

On arriving, the site also has height limits of around two metres.

I asked a bus driver if there were any alternative sites that could take motorhomes, and was told that Water Eaton could.

After driving to Water Eaton we found, once again, that there is a height restriction. After three attempts without success, we finally gave up and drove back home.

Perhaps the restrictions are to prohibit the entry of travellers, but they also punish legitimate visitors in motorhomes or caravans.

The leaflet we were given at Thornhill gives the location of all Oxford Park and Ride locations, but there is no mention anywhere of height restrictions.

We will almost certainly be going to Art in Action next year, but it looks like there is little chance of finally visiting Oxford unless we are given clear details of where to park our motorhome.
