NOTWITHSTANDING our honourable friend Andrew Smith’s good words and intentions, “Fears right to buy will lead to worsening city housing” (June 23) shows the Oxford Mail is on the ball.

Nevertheless, only one English party already represented at Westminster can help us solve the crisis!

The Mail knows its market but don’t forget houses are supposed to be for people to build homes and communities not to waste money and undermine the environment.

Groups like Oxford Co-Housing, Oxford Tenants Union even the Friends of Stansfield – next public meeting is July 15th (venue TBA) – give us a clue.

Of course social access, accountability and transparency are part of the mix.

Considering extreme weather, disinformation and attempted leverage washing over us, maybe we can reclaim our power, our streets and push the debate in a radical, progressive direction.

Do we need more white elephants or unaffordable gated communities imposing gridlock?

What do you really think?

Headington has been infamously described as a “health and education village”. Surely it’s up to us to proactively demonstrate their worth.
