IN RODNEY Rose’s letter (May 18), he doesn’t accept that buses cause congestion.

How can he say this when buses are coming through Headington in convoys all day and night? Has he even been to Headington to see for himself?

There are London buses every 12 minutes, airport buses to Heathrow every hour. The London buses run by two companies are going to the same place.

Headington is gridlocked with buses every day. Oxford city is the same; choked up with buses. All the council has done has banned cars from the city and filled it up with buses.

On pollution, did he see the programme on ITV called The Air We Breathe telling us how high diesel pollution is in this country? They said that diesel engines are not as low on emissions as their makers claim. So thousands of people are dying each year from this pollution. And to save the best joke to last, Rodney says they build roads to last 20-30 years.

Why is it that roads in Headington such as London Road are littered with potholes when it was done about five years ago? The High Street is even worse!
