I WOULD like to thank all those who turned out on Sunday, May 24 to witness The Rifles, the county regiment, exercise the Freedom of The City of Oxford.
I know that the Rifleman from the Royal Green Jacket Association, like myself, who took part in the parade, were really proud and touched at the support we all received. We were honoured to have our two Second World War veterans on parade with us.
Also a vote of thanks to Cllr Bob Price and the handful of city and county councillors who looked after us so well at the reception in the Town Hall after the parade.
It is a pity that more from the civic community did not attend to show their appreciation of the sacrifices made by members of the past and present county regiment made in the cause of freedom and democracy we enjoy today.
