After reading Carl Smith’s letter (May 1) I can see that the irresponsible way some dog owners dispose of their poo bags is not only a problem in Old Marston.

Having travelled to or through Kidlington on a weekly basis I have noticed the number of the red dog poo bins along the roadside.

Cherwell District Council has supplied many such bins for this purpose, unlike Oxford City Council, because of the cost involved to install such bins and to empty them.

But we do have red bins in the parks and recreation grounds and we are allowed to put poo bags in ordinary litter bins by St Nicholas Primary School and the entrance to the Harlow Centre.

With these red bins or litter bins there is no excuse for irresponsible dog owners not to dispose of it properly.

There are those, thankfully a minority, who never ever pick up and these individuals give the majority of dog owners a bad name.

The discovery of poo bags thrown in the hedges, and so on, comes to light when the few people who take pride in where they live volunteer for the annual Oxclean in March each year.

It’s a disgusting habit and I hope all who those who do this on a regular basis will stop.
