Fair play to John Tanner for making his personal opinion known to everyonein regards on the headline news regarding restricting car use in Oxford.

Just before an election, is there any chance of the Oxford Mail listing the yeas, nays and on-the-fencers who’ve come up with this gem? Or worse, not voted at all?

It’s been apparent for a few years that both city and county councillors are in cahoots to milk the motorist for parking, access, etc.

It would be nice, as an individual voter, to see who’s actually voting for what at these meetings.

It might just change a few other people’s minds on how they vote this week, if not just my own.

The bus companies are naturally going to support this nonsense, but I for one am still puzzled as to why their fares are disproportionately high if the bus lanes and priority schemes already in place are that effective.

They must be saving thousands of pounds on fuel.

Why is that then not reflected in the price of their fares?

A city built around the motor industry in modern times, Oxford utterly hates the motorist.

Clearly local councillors get themselves elected by saying one thing, then promptly support their own likes or opinions when in office.

It’s time we knew who’s really who and what we’re actually voting for.
