How apt that the activists at Sustainable Wantage decided to switch the lights off for an hour to get attention for their eco-hysteria.
Most people seem not to be aware that Britain is legally committed to reducing its carbon dioxide emission by 80 per cent by the year 2050 under the Climate Change Act of 2008.
If this nonsensical target were to be realised (mercifully it is totally impossible!) we would all be switching the electricity off for most of the day and night.
We would be living in the Britain of pre-1800: hungry, cold, sick and unemployed. Mortality would increase, although to many in the higher levels of environmentalism that would be considered a bonus, dangerous overpopulation (another myth) being seen in their religion as a sin against the Earth.
As a simple verifiable fact, global warming ceased in 1998. The much-repeated, mantra of the climate alarmists that man-made runaway global warming is the greatest danger humanity has ever faced is absolutely untrue in every respect.
