I refer to your articles about an online petition about busking being signed by thousands of people.
So many people jump on the bandwagon with these type of anonymous petitions. Many of them, I suspect, have never been within 20 miles of our beautiful city.
I have found visitors shocked often by these ‘so-called’ buskers with very loud amplified music, witnessed tour guides being taken over by these people with no regard to what these ambassadors of our city are trying to do to welcome our visitors when trying to describe the history and beauty of our city, and having to ‘give up’ to these selfish/self obsessed people.
Yes, Oxford City Council is right to ‘licence’ and control these people because it is really becoming a free-to-all and getting out of hand.
Visitors have a right to learn of our ancient city and should be encouraged to come here and do this.
