REGARDING Mark Pearson’s letter concerning the riverbank that has been cleared between Sandford and Radley (April 8), I too have fished for over 50 years in Oxfordshire, and am glad that Mr Frearson has cleared the bank alongside the Thames.
This stretch of the riverbank had become severely overgrown and needed work, which has now been done.
I have been an acquaintance of Mr Frearson for a number of years and you would be hard put to find someone who is better at land management for the good of all wildlife, even at his own expense.
Many of the anglers who have complained may have knowledge of angling but appear to have little knowledge of countryside management.
