WITH reference to the report Your say is wanted on Bicester’s bid for garden city status (March 19), I was drawn to the paragraph “Announced by Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg in December, it will pump £100m of investment into Bicester to deliver 13,000 homes, 21,500 jobs and a motorway junction”.

It led me to highlight the following: p Will some of the £100m be used to provide a post office where you don’t have to queue for up to an hour and will a percentage of the 21,500 jobs be allocated to provide sufficient staff?

  • Will any of the 13,000 houses be made affordable to the younger generation of the real Bicester populace so they no longer have to live on the poverty line by paying astronomical rent to greedy landlords?
  • Will the motorway junction be an improvement on junction 9 of the M40?

I know I sound sceptical but we have heard all this before when the M40 extension was completed all those years ago. Those in power said Bicester would be a boom town and it never happened.
