DID I dream it or was it only last month that the Vale Vision dropped through my letterbox proclaiming under “Ten things we have achieved together for Abingdon”, that the Open air swimming pool had been saved for future generations by no less a personage than our current MP? (See point three of the 10 achievements) Now it would seem that our current MP and the Vale of White Horse District Council are speaking with a ‘forked tongue’ if the gerrymandered public consultation is anything to go by.

‘Pork barrel’ politics are being played here by predominantly West Vale Councillors and inept, unelected, district officials.

Meanwhile in Pontypridd, Wales, the local council has obtained £3m of EU funding as well as £2.3m of Lottery funding in order to re-develop and re-furbish the only Lido in Wales, closed for 20 years, in order to preserve it for future generations.

Public amenities can be sustained with an injection of money and initiative, something completely lacking here in Abingdon!
