Cut A40 speed for a quieter Old Marston
I believe the speed limit on the A40 ring road should be reduced to 50 mph from the Cutteslowe Roundabout (Summertown) to the Headington Roundabout.
A decision has been made to reduce it from the JR junction to the Headington Roundabout.
This leaves a very small 1.2 miles where it increases to 70 mph again. This means a lot of accelerating and breaking over a short distance. Old Marston suffers from a lot of road noise. Reducing the speed limit from 70 to 50 mph would reduce the road noise by 30 per cent in what is now becoming a built-up area with houses either side.
