I am writing in response to Councillor Roy Darke’s letter, October 23, to say I wasn’t against the sewage and flooding alleviation scheme that went into Croft Road Recreation Ground.
In August 2004 the children’s play equipment was removed over the weekend without warning. I was concerned enough at the abrupt removal of our children’s play facilities in the summer holidays and proposed sewage tanks going under the children’s play area to organise a protest and collected 231 signatures.
I would like to add that on February 17, 2004, the North East Area Committee held a meeting which Cllr Darke chaired and Thames Water gave their presentation of what they intended to do and the councillors and officers thanked them for their presentation afterwards.
