I AM replying to the letter in Tuesday’s newspaper about the Enstone Show.

Maybe there is an animal welfare issue, but how many of the objectors incited by a national animal welfare group actually live in Enstone, or anywhere near?

And how many of them were able to inspect the conditions that the animals were kept in at Enstone, and how well were they looked after the rest of the time? Why should someone in Market Rasen be able to tell Enstone Parish Council what to do?

Look at it this way: many people in the UK object to the self-elected EU monster telling them what they can or cannot do; many people in Scotland object to the (largely English elected) Westminster monster telling them what they can or cannot do; and doubtless many people in Enstone object to a self-elected national animal welfare group telling them what they can or cannot do.

I think that Enstone Parish Council, elected by people who live in Enstone, should decide what happens at their annual show.

After the event, and only then, should anyone complain about what has happened.
