A PIRATE ship set to form the centrepiece of a £70,000 play park in East Oxford will have to be pulled down.
Despite the wooden structure teasing youngsters for days, an inspector said it was just too unsafe.
Families and children have been left disappointed.
But the question has to be asked: Why was it allowed to be built in the first place?
The city council commissioned the ship, but only knew it would not be suitable once it was finished.
It insists the firm behind the structure will now not be paid – we’ll have to wait and see what they say about that!
But, in the future, perhaps the city council could run its eye over plans a little more carefully.
