Let’s put flytippers in the frame

OXFORD City Council should be praised for the way it is tackling flytipping.

The council has already had some success in driving down instances of this most antisocial of activities.

Now it is ready to unleash a camera designed purely to catch these illegal dumpers in the act.

One hopes that a few high-profile prosecutions, complete with images of the offenders sheepishly dumping their fridges, microwaves and takeaway wrappers, will make the small minority who act so irresponsibly think again.

After all, this is far from just one blot on the landscape – areas across the city are affected.

This measure, complete with the council and Oxford Mail-backed Cleaner, Greener Oxford campaign, will continue to make our city a more pleasant place to live.
