No wonder David Cameron is cock-a-hoop.
After five years without a Tory councillor, Oxford now has two.
Tia MacGregor and Paul Sargent, having quit the Liberal Democrats to become Independents, have now joined the Conservative ranks.
What, we wonder, will the electors who voted them in as Lib Dems, have to say about that? Some are bound to feel cheated.
Under the law, the councillors have done nothing wrong.
But they would have been on stronger ground had they resigned, declared their Tory allegiance and fought by-elections.
They are now representing people who rejected Tory policies at the last election.
