IT may have been 75 years ago, but the Battle of Britain was very much in people’s thoughts this weekend.

And rightly so. Although the German assault on Britain’s skies was all those decades ago, it is important to remember just how close a call it was.

The dramatic dogfights in the air above us held the enemy off, and that was only down to the dogged determination and bravery of the British pilots and their colleagues.

It is that same bravery that courses through the blood of the Oxfordshire service personnel who paraded this weekend to honour their forebears.
