YESTERDAY morning teenagers across Oxfordshire would have been opening up their GCSE results with trembling hands, breath held or even in a manic rush.
However students discovered their grades, they have all contributed to a bumper year for the county’s schools.
Headteachers were rightly praising both pupils and staff for ensuring an excellent crop of results.
Barely any have been more impressive than Oxford Academy. The school’s turnaround has been phenomenal and yesterday they were celebrating its best results ever.
And yesterday their hard work paid off, when more than half of their GCSE students got at least five A* to C grades.
And it wasn’t rocket science. The simple things – such as more specialised teachers, clear-cut disciplinary measures and more school clubs – can make all the difference.
Whatever your child’s results yesterday, the story of Oxford Academy can teach them a lesson even more valuable than GCSE maths as they take their next steps in the world.
Success comes from hard work and no matter what situation you find yourself in, you can always turn it around.
