HUNDREDS of people defied the weather over the weekend and pitched up for a beer festival in Iffley village.
Despite Friday’s consistent downpour, more than 180 revellers rocked up at the Tree Hotel for ales, ciders, a barbecue and music.
The hotel’s manager said in excess of 300 people enjoyed a much brighter Saturday, and crowds returned yesterday for the conclusion of the festival. Manager Namit Julka said: “We are very pleased — the weather has not been great but it’s been busy.
“On the first day, we had more than 180 people and the bar area was fully packed, and then we had even more on Saturday.
“The barbecue went down very well and we had a selection of 15 beers and three ciders.”
The hotel, in Church Way, also announced it will put on a lager Oktoberfest event – to run at the same time as the famous German festival – on October 3.
