THE days when “street food” only brought to mind a doner kebab or greasy burger are long gone.
Thanks to pioneers in places such as the Far East, the United States and South America, we are experiencing a street food revolution. The British Street Food Annual Awards are at the forefront of recognising the UK’s contribution to this growing craze.
In these times of austerity, a cheaper alternative to dining out is just what many people are looking for.
So let’s hope our region’s eateries are well represented at the competition’s final in London later this year.
