IT MAY be a seemingly innocuous decision by the county council to cut its budget for cutting grass verges.

But the authority should be preparing for a backlash by residents who could soon see the areas around their communities become ungrown and unsightly.

Of course the council needs to tighten its purse and we all understand that cuts have to be made.

However, the council must understand the pride people take in the areas they live in and it may see one of the biggest anti-cuts reactions yet.
