DAVID Cameron has said what we all know. Train services in Oxfordshire are in desparate need of improvement.

They are nearing Third World standards.

Be it late trains, poorly-timed engineering works, or the dreaded signal failures that plague our commuter lines, our rail service is in dire straits.

The problems don’t just lie with First Great Western though, as easy as it could be to put the entire blame at their door.

Network Rail, the Government and our council all must play a role in battling for better rail services.

But who is actually going to do anything about the shoddy service we receive?

It’s all well and good our Prime Minister making a noise about it, but where’s the action?

There’s lots of talk about grand schemes and projects across Oxfordshire, but we need to see some movement.

In fact, when passengers are stuck on held-up trains, even just some literal movement would be welcomed.

We get a shoddy service on many of our rail lines, despite paying through the nose for tickets.

As fares go up and up, commuters are locked into having no choice but to accept the increases and the appalling service.

It’s all very well making loud statements, but that in itself won’t make the trains run better.

Somebody has to take some responsibility somewhere along the line.
