LOVE it or hate it, the Sainsbury’s advert about the Christmas truce of 1914 has brought it back into the public domain.
And it’s a heartwarming glimmer from the First World War that shouldn’t be forgotten amid the tragedy of the conflict.
That’s why it’s moving to see those at the Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum commemorate what happened at a special service. As we get bombarded with everything that comes with the festive season we should all take a moment to remember what our brave men had to endure, especially at Christmas, and a poignant event which must have given them a small moment of retreat.
