OUR primary schools seem to be in a state of stasis as their Key Stage 2 results stayed the same as last year.

It is a shame they have not been able to increase the percentage of pupils obtaining Level 4 – the Government benchmark – in line with the national rise of three percentage points.

But among the schools were some success stories, such as Benson CofE Primary School that achieved more than 90 per cent success in maths and reading SATs.

Headteacher Helen Crolla is right that pulling up the marks of pupils is not just the responsibility of the school.

The whole community, including parents, pupils, teachers and governors must all come together and move forward to achieve the best.

Theirs is an example to the rest.
