SOME council workers might have considered the task of cleaning up Blackbird Leys as a real poisoned chalice, but not Oxford City Council street cleaner Harry Liptrot.
He firmly grasped the grimy task in 1999 and never looked back as people on the estate came to know him as a friend.
Now he’s retired, they will miss him and his clean-up skills.
