IT’S astonishing to think that Jean Davies, a well-known pensioners’ campaigner, starved herself to death.

The right-to-die campaigner had been suffering a range of medical conditions and felt this was her best possible option, as assisted dying is not legal in the UK.

The manner of Mrs Davies’s death is bound to focus attention on the assisted suicide debate.

But whatever changes do or don’t occur in the future, one thing is for certain – she will be sadly missed.
