THE demolition of Didcot A Power station’s towers will be a truly historic event.
While they are technically owned by nPower, one could argue the residents who have lived in their shadows for so long have ownership in their future.
That is why the demolition should take place at 6am, when those who have looked at them for years on end can witness the spectacle.
Many will have been employees who spent their working days against their backdrop. Others will have passed them on the train, or glanced at them from behind the wheel while driving.
Of course safety is paramount in an operation such as this, but nPower must realise it is more than just an engineering event, it is a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence that so many will want to view.
