A FREE tour of a food waste plant is being offered to West Oxfordshire residents next month.
West Oxfordshire District Council have organised the tour of Agrivert anaerobic digestion plant, near Cassington, on July 31 at 10.30am.
The tour will show residents what happens to their food waste, with district council staff in attendance to explain how waste is transformed into fertiliser and electricity.
The plant processes Oxfordshire's food waste, creating fertiliser and enough electricity to power more than 4,000 homes.
Councillor Steve Good, Cabinet Member for Waste Collection and Recycling, said: “We know how committed our residents are to recycling and this tour gives valuable feedback on how their efforts are being put to good use.
“It is a highly informative event offering a valuable insight into how much thought is put into dealing with what we throw away.”
