A SPECIAL meeting of Bicester Town Council will seek to grant the highest civic honour to a military unit.

The council will gather on Monday at 6.45pm at The Garth especially to grant 1 Regiment RLC, a regiment of the British Army's Royal Logistic Corps, the 'freedom of entry into Bicester'.

The regiment is based at St David's Barracks in Bicester and the meeting agenda states the move would recognise 'the long and close association between Bicester town and the RLC'.

If the motion is passed as expected, a special service will be held at St Edburg’s Church at 2pm on Saturday, July 21.

The regiment's personnel will then exercise their ‘freedom’ by marching through the town to Market Square.
