THE formation of a new scrutiny group to oversee health care at the Horton General Hospital in Banbury has moved a step closer.

A new Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee (HOSC) specifically for the Horton's services will feature members of councils from other areas within the patient flow area of the hospital.

The new committee is being formed on the advice of the secretary of state after Oxfordshire CCG made a decision to permanently close consultant-led obstetric services at the hospital in August 2017.

Oxfordshire County Council, Warwickshire County Council and Northamptonshire County Council have all now agreed to the proposals.

Following final confirmation of the appointments to the new Committee, the Horton HOSC will be convened at the earliest opportunity.
