VOLUNTARY groups in Bicester are being invited to apply for up to £1,000 as part of the seventh round of SPARK funding.

Cherwell District Council is dishing out £40,000 o support local organisations promoting culture, health and community spirit.

The next round of applying for funding has been launched as part of Volunteers' Week which runs until Thursday.

Cherwell District Council leader Barry Wood said: "The SPARK funding is a valuable way of helping community groups grow and enhancing the wellbeing of Bicester residents.

"Many organisations have already been awarded funding and their projects will benefit the whole community.

"We fully recognise the contribution volunteers make in Bicester and we are supporting Volunteers’ Week by offering a funding opportunity because we know the difference it can make to a cause they are passionate about."

Both new and established groups can apply for the grant, which is intended to benefit people of all ages and backgrounds by helping to sustain or extend the reach of projects in the town.

The re-launch of Bicester Green, adventurous and personal development activities at Bure Park Scout Group, equipment for Langford Community Café, Bicester’s Big Lunch Youth Arts outreach and equipment for Bicester Badminton Tuesday club are among the projects awarded previously through the SPARK funding.
