AN OXFORD home care company has provided a youth charity with a suitcase full of medical supplies to be donated to communities in Africa.
Youth Challenge Oxfordshire (YoCO) took a team of volunteers to Kenya where they assisted local teachers in two schools working with 400 HIV orphans.
After hearing of the trip through a member of staff, Bluebird Care (Oxford, South & West Oxfordshire) offered its help.
Director of Bluebird Care (Oxford, South & West Oxfordshire) Robert Mezo, said: “One of our staff mentioned her niece, Courtney, was travelling to Kenya as part of the YoCO trip and after hearing about the great work they do we thought we could offer some support.
"We were advised to provide surgical gloves as they can be a great asset for the clinics in the community so we gave Courtney as many as she can carry.
"It’s brilliant to get involved with community efforts such as this that make such a tremendous impact on so many lives.”
The YoCO team spent the last year raising funds, learning basic Swahili and preparing for charity's 10-day trip to work with the Nazio Trust Charity in West Kenya.
Each member of the group travelled out with two suitcases full of supplies to be left over there.
