EMPLOYERS are being reminded by charity Aspire Oxford that a recruitment conference is just a week away.

Businesses are being invited to attend the conference at Unipart in Garsington Road, Cowley on Wednesday, April 25, from 9.30am to 2pm.

It’s the second year in a row that the charity has organised the conference.

Spokeswoman Helen Mariner said: “Oxfordshire’s tight labour market and low unemployment is creating major recruitment challenges for businesses.

“But there are thousands of local people who want to work and could do so, given the right support. Businesses that offer inclusive recruitment to disadvantaged groups such as ex-offenders can benefit from filling their job vacancies with dedicated, hard-working people who just need a chance to move back into the world of work.”

The conference is entitled The Power of Inclusive Recruitment and there will be a line-up of speakers from companies which have seen the benefits of recruiting from disadvantaged groups, including Pret a Manger, University College, Oxfam and Hello Fresh.

This event is free to attend and local businesses will have the opportunity to network.

Employers attending can also learn about the advice and in-work support available to give them confidence in recruiting from disadvantaged groups.

The event is being backed by the High Sheriff of Oxfordshire Richard Venables and members of the business group Reciprocate.
