THE first homes at a controversial new housing estate will be ‘launched’ to the public tomorrow.

Linden Homes, which battled to get planning permission for the 60-home Meadow View development in Cholsey Near Wallingford, is inviting prospective buyers to look around the first houses.

The company had to make an appeal after South Oxfordshire District Council initially refused permission for the estate saying it was an ‘unsustainable’ development outside the built area of the village.

At least 16 residents felt strongly enough to write objections to the scheme as well.

Linden said the homes will start at £390,000 and will be eligible for Government Help to Buy scheme.
