A BLACK tie dinner will be held tomorrow night to raise funds for a statue in memory of Inspector Morse author Colin Dexter.

Mr Dexter died in March last year, aged 86, and there are plans for a statue in Oxford costing an estimated £50,000.

The author, whose 13 Morse novels inspired the Inspector Morse, Lewis and Endeavour TV series, lived in North Oxford and the statue is likely to be erected nearby.

The Inspector Morse Society, which has put forward the proposal, is hosting a dinner at Innholders’ Hall in the City of London.

Ted Childs, executive producer of Inspector Morse episodes, will be guest speaker, to help raise funds for the Colin Dexter Memorial Fund.
