CELEBRITY chef Rick Stein, former Home Secretary Alan Johnson and historian David Olusoga are among the authors who have signed up for the Oxford Literary Festival.

There will be more than 200 events at the festival, which runs from Saturday, March 17 to Sunday, March 25.

While TV chef Mr Stein will speak at the Sheldonian Theatre on Saturday, March 24 at 2pm, historian and broadcaster David Olusoga is appearing at the theatre on Sunday, March 18, at 10am.

He will talk about his role in the BBC’s much anticipated update of Kenneth Clark’s landmark documentary Civilisation.

Booker Prize winners Ben Okri and Penelope Lively return to Oxford this year, and the festival also welcomes Man Asian Literary Prize winner Su Tong.

Comedian and writer Ruby Wax will talk about her new manual for mental health, How to be Human.

Matthew Parris, journalist and former MP, said: “ I shall remember the Oxford festival for the size of the audience.

“In the Oxford audience I encountered many experts in the field my book covered and even one of the ambassadors I’d quoted - the beauty and the grace of the place itself – incomparable - the willingness of my hearers to buy books afterwards; I’ve never sold more.”

Former Cabinet minister Mr Johnson will discuss his multi-award-winning series of autobiographies and the future of the Labour Party.
