MANAGERS at the company running Westgate Oxford’s bar and restaurant chain The Alchemist are celebrating after being named as one of the best companies to work for.

The firm has been placed 36th on The Sunday Times Best Company to Work for 2018 list of 100.

The accolade was awarded to the brand for the second year running, having jumped from the 63rd place in 2017.

Peach Pub Company, which runs pubs including The Fishes in North Hinksey and the Fleece in Witney, are also in the list at number 43.

Seventy-five new 75 new jobs were created at the Westgate Centre venue when it opened its new 4,600 sq ft venue at the centre’s rooftop terrace.

Simon Potts, managing director of The Alchemist, said: “It is such an incredible achievement for us to remain on the prestigious list – and even better to climb to spot 36!

“To be placed for the second year running is fantastic and truly humbling.

“We invest a significant amount of time and resource into ensuring we offer not only a fun place to work, but a supportive working environment, with clear career progression and world class training. I’m very proud of our teams and all we achieve, and this is all down to their hard work. We’re honoured to be recognised alongside an impressive line-up in the hospitality industry and beyond.

“The last 18 months have been monumental to us as a brand.”

The Alchemist is backed by Palatine Private Equity, who supported a buy out from Living Ventures in 2015.
