A COUNCIL has applied for special permission from the Secretary of State to fix an iconic clock in the centre of Witney.
The clock at the top of the buttercross in Market Square has been wrong for more than one month.
Witney Town Council has pledged to repair the clock and ensure it shows the correct time but the task may be more time-consuming than some would expect.
As the buttercross is designated a scheduled monument this means that special permission has to be sought from Government to carry out any work on it.
