THE over-use of antibiotics will come under the spotlight in a free public talk in Witney on March 3.
Organised by Public and Patient Partnership for West Oxfordshire
the discussion will see Professor Carl Heneghan, of the University of Oxford, discuss a range of issues surrounding antibiotic.
The talk will aim to answer a number of questions on antibiotics such as what are they, why don’t they always work, and why doctors sometimes refuse to prescribe them.
Prof Heneghan will also aim to bust the sometimes confusing medical jargon putting it into plain English.
The talk will also demonstrate how bacteria can adapt and find ways to survive the effects of an antibiotic and how this is already proving to be a major threat to patient safety.
Organised with the support of Healthwatch Oxfordshire and Oxfordshire CCG, the event will take place at The Corn Exchange, Market Place, Witney, on Saturday, March 3 from 10.30am to 12pm.
