PLANS to build a metal shed to store tools in an East Oxford churchyard have been withdrawn.
St Mary and St John Church, in Cowley Road, had applied for permission to build the shed after receiving a £5,000 grant from the Parochial Church Council.
It said tools have been stored in the porch entrance of the church for many years, which has blocked main entry to the church and also led to a number of thefts.
The tools are used by volunteers who maintain and ensure the upkeep of the churchyard and its many memorials to notable local figures.
The plans were withdrawn earlier this week but could be resubmitted pending discussions with city council planners.
