THE Bodleian Library is now showing the work of renowned photographer Walter Benington.
The display at the Proscholium will run until March 25.
Mr Benington (1872–1936) was a British photographer whose work is heavily featured in the National Portrait Gallery.
He joined the Linked Ring group of photographers in about 1893 and showed his pictures with them.
From 1927 he worked as a freelance portrait photographer for Elliott & Fry.
His sitters included actress Ellen Terry, scientist Albert Einstein and Sherlock Holmes author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
The display at the Bodleian off Broad Street features a series of portraits of leading members of Oxford and Cambridge universities as well as images of Conan Doyle and Einstein.
The opening times for the exhibition are Monday to Friday 9am-5pm, Saturday 9am-4.30pm and Sunday 11am-5pm.
