THE FIRST street-cleaning blitz of the year will tackle rubbish and flytipping in Bicester.

The Bure Park estate is first on Cherwell District Council's list to bring in the council street cleansing team and take on flytipping, litter and graffiti.

The first blitz will take place during the week beginning January 22.

Cherwell' District Council lead member for clean and green Debbie Pickford said: “The Bure Park area is one of the prettiest in Bicester and it will be great to see it get some extra attention from our street cleansing team during the blitz campaign.

“Residents work really hard to sort their waste and recycling but problems such as littering and graffiti can build up in any busy area, which is why we run these periodic clean-ups.

“I hope that local people will support our campaign by taking up the offer of free bulky waste collections, and by doing their best to dispose of litter and other waste the right way."

The blitz will stretch as far west as Purslane Drive and includes Barista Road and Mullein Road over the the east.

Cherwell District Council will also be offering discounted recycling bins as well as up to 100 free bulky waste collections offered on a first come first served basis.

During the week of the blitz, Bure Park residents will be able to purchase additional blue and brown recycling bins for the discounted price of £18.

They will be able to check their eligibility and book in bulky waste collections online during the week at cherwell.gov.uk/blitz
