A NEW display at the Ashmolean will display a range of archaeological finds discovered by metal detectorists on the Berkshire Downs.
The display, which starts tomorrow, will show the story of the site through items such as coins, pottery and metal works.
The items including an ‘exquisite’ coin bearing a man and woman, and the word ‘Caesar,’ dates from 47-46 BC. All of the items are dated from the Iron Age or from the end of Roman Britain.
The display will join an exhibition on early religious iconography from across Europe and Asia.
The exhibitions are on until April 29, and February 18 respectively.
