COUPLES are invited to dine with a difference for Valentine's Day as Oxford Castle Unlocked host some unusual events.

People can take in the romance by taking part in a Shakespearean scavenger hunt or to book a three-course meal to enjoy within the confines of a prison cell.

Oxford Castle Unlocked is located on the former site of HMP Oxford but has stood as a Castle for 1000 years.

Oxford Castle Unlocked general manager Chris Abbott said: "In recent years, the castle has become a really popular destination on Valentine’s Day as our events offer an alternative to the regular dinner out or trip to the cinema.

"We look forward to welcoming couples into the castle for this year’s very special Valentines events."

The Valentine's Day Lock in will be staged on Wednesday, February 14, at 6.30pm and 9pm.

Couples can enjoy their three-courses with a bottle of wine, with one couple able to opt for the candlelit crypt instead.

The Valentine's Scavenger Hunt will be held on February 17, from 6pm to 7.30pm starting off with a guided tour of St George's Tower.

The end of the hunt gives couples the chance to exchange their findings for a celebratory drink in the crypt.
